The Staal’s

The Staal brothers are four brothers from Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada, all of whom have had NHL contracts. All, but Jared Staal still play in the NHL, and all but Marc Staal have played for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Eric Staal is the oldest brother of the bunch. Eric was selected second overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. Eric lifted the Stanley Cup with his teammates as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Eric was named captain of the Hurricanes in January. He then went on to play for Team Canada in the Olympics.
Marc Stall is the second oldest and the only brother to play as a defenseman. He is also the only one to never play for the Hurricanes. Marc was drafted 12th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Despite being drafted in 2005, Marc did not start his NHL career until the year 2007. Marc was named an alternate captain of the team in 2010. He also competed in the 2011 NHL All Star Game.
Jordan Staal is the third oldest of the brothers. Jordan was drafted second overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Level Draft. He made his NHL debut in October 2006. He was named the alternate captain of the team at the start of the 2010-2011 season. Jordan then went on to play for the Carolina Hurricanes where he signed a 10-year, $60 million contract. He was also reunited with his brother Jordan. Jordan is now the captain of the Carolina Hurricanes as of the 2019-2020 season.
Jared Staal is the youngest and the only brother to shoot right handed. Jared was taken 49th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2008 NHL Entry Level Draft. Jared only appeared in two NHL games, leaving him to be lost in the minor leagues of hockey.
